Chateau Owner Ashlee Krichmar Interviewed in VoyageLA Magazine

VoyageLA Magazine recently published an article interviewing Chateau Recovery L.A.'s owner Ashlee Krichmar.

"My dealer pulls up down the street. I watch him exit the vehicle and start walking towards me. I can barely walk due to the withdrawal. My entire body feels weak. He hands me 3 bundles of heroin rubber banded together and ready. I grab the drugs, nearly toss the cash at him, and I jump in the back seat of my vehicle. My hands are clammy and they won’t stop shaking. I start my ritual and fill the syringe up with my liquid brown magic, I tie the belt around my arm and start the hunt for a “good.” vein...I push the syringe slowly but steadily, and once again, all is well in world again. The problem? Well the problem was clearly not me, it was everyone else..."

Krichmar gives a no-holds-barred interview about what her life was like before she came into recovery, and how her passion for helping others turned into her dream of operating her own sober living company in West Hollywood.

Keeping the Pink Cloud Floating in Recovery

Keeping the Pink Cloud Floating in Recovery

In the early stages of sobriety, some of us addicts and alcoholics experience what we refer to as a Pink Cloud. We have detoxed from drugs and alcohol, we look better and feel better. We are surrounded and supported by our fellow members of AA and NA, are fellowshipping, going to meetings, and feel a happiness we have not felt in a very long time. Sobriety seems easy and effortless. The future looks bright.

Then, seemingly out of nowhere, a crisis happens. Someone gets sick, fired from a job, there’s a death in the family, divorce, natural disasters, etc. And, we fall from our pink cloud and don’t quite know what to do or where to turn.

This is when it kicks in how important it is for us to get a sponsor in the program. We realize that we need AA and/or NA meetings where we get to know the members and they get to know us. There, we have a safe platform to share what we’re going through and we can ask for support.

Just because we get clean and sober doesn’t mean that life isn’t going to continue happening with its ups and downs. But there can also joy and happiness. What sobriety offers is a second chance to participate in life, learning how to navigate through the ups and downs without drugs and alcohol.

In recovery, we build a solid foundation in which we can build our lives upon. We learn to experience the beauty of a sunset, we catch ourselves smiling as we watch children play, waking up early to watch the sunrise, and walking through nature. We turn our problems and concerns over to a power greater than ourselves, asking for the courage to change as we live one day at a time, clean and sober.

The Pink Cloud is a wonderful experience, in that it gives a magical and mystical kind of hope in early sobriety. But when one falls from the cloud there is a deep, meaningful, and lasting happiness that comes from living in the moment, seeing the good in the world, and helping others to achieve sobriety. We also learn to see the good in ourselves and how we can make a difference in our own lives and in the lives of others. This is the real Pink Cloud.

Chateau Recovery L.A. provides the support you need to help you learn to live life with joy through all of the ups and downs. We want to invite you to come take a tour, meet our family, and join us in our journey toward an awesome life! Contact us today to learn more.

Introduction to Chateau Recovery LA

Chateau means FAMILY. No matter where you go or what road lies ahead, when you move on from Chateau, you are ALWAYS a part of this family. We're not just going to love you until you love yourself. We are the family that never stops loving you.

Our mission is to keep our residents comfortable, safe, and guide them in the direction of a healthy sober lifestyle. We do not tolerate drug use or alcohol in the houses. We have rules and expectations. If you fall, we will help you up, but like anything in life, change is made when the individual is ready to make the change. We help create an individual path made to fit our residents' life in their recovery. The rules are still the same, but you will have your own individual experience that looks nothing like your neighbor's. THAT is what makes Chateau Recovery different. Not everyone's story looks the same, why should their journey through recovery be any different?
